Matthew Hutchinson

Matt Hutchinson is a comedian, writer, NHS doctor specialising in rheumatology and general internal medicine and a medical researcher.

In 2023 he performed his debut sold out solo show “Hostile” at the Edinburgh Fringe, to critical acclaim.

His first book “Are You Really the Doctor?” – a medical memoir addressing race in healthcare will be released by Bonnier Books in September 2025, with an accompanying book tour planned for 2026. A sequel is in development.

He is also completing a PhD in molecular virology and immunology at UCL/the Francis Crick Institute, which, in a feat of over-ambitious scheduling, is also due to be examined in 2025.

Matt has performed science themed comedy and spoken at venues including the Royal Institution, the Science Museum, and the Royal Observatory Greenwich.
